MEET cossette D. Ahlborn

Cossette D. Ahlborn received her Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology at Antioch University in 1994. She provided therapeutic services to Active Duty Services Members at Joint Base Lewis McCord for 24 years.  She retired from this in September 2017. She established a Private Practice in 2015 and has been providing services to clients in that private practice since that time.

She is an experienced therapist in providing psychological evaluations for adults in order to determine the issues of the client and therapy to assist the client to resolve these issues.  She is trained in a variety of treatment approaches and specializes in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).  EMDR is an effective treatment for the resolution of many mental health issues including but not limited to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, post traumatic stress, anxiety, panic disorders, depression, bereavement or grief, critical incident intervention, addictive processes and impulse control disorders, and general life adjustments and transitions.

She was initially trained (Level I and Level II) in EMDR in 2005. She was certified in EMDR in 2007 and became an EMDRIA Approved Consultant in 2011.  She has been an EMDR Institute Facilitator for the Military since 2013.

As a professional she is committed to providing efficient high quality services that are accessible, effective, and affordable.

She also provides EMDR Consultation to Clinicians who are trained in EMDR.

Her goals for your therapy are to empower you to overcome any personal obstacles in order for you to improve your quality of life.  She believes the therapeutic relationship that is co-created between therapist and client is a significant portion of the transformative aspect of therapy.  Her being present and compassionate with you makes a difference.

Cossette D. Ahlborn has been an EMDRIA Approved Consultant since 2011. She has also been an EMDR Institute Facilitator for the Military since 2013. She is a Member of EMDRIA and is in good standing in EMDRIA. Her expertise is in working with clients that are Active Duty Military. Many of these clients presented with complex PTSD and other issues that were in additional to the military issues that were impacting their quality of life. She initiated and was involved in providing individual and group consultation for providers who worked in clinics that were addressing issues including war / deployment, family issues including domestic violence, and issues related to substance abuse. As a clinician herself she has treated military personnel with many disorders and has a wealth of experience in this area.
